Preparing Your Skin for Better Results
Prepare Your Skin Like a Garden
Your skin is like a garden, and collagen is its soil. Endolift works by stimulating new collagen growth — and just like planting seeds, results grow best in healthy, well-prepared soil.
In the weeks before treatment, help build up and hydrate your collagen so your skin is optimized and ready to respond:
- Get good, regular sleep
- Avoid smoking
- Avoid alcohol
- Stay well hydrated
- Apply a hydrating face mask for two nights before your appointment
Fertilize the Soil (Optional, 1–2 Months Before)
Consider adding "fertilizer" to your skin's soil with biostimulator treatments 1 to 2 months before Endolift. These stimulate collagen and fibroblasts, which may support and enhance your Endolift results. Options include:
Ask your practitioner which option is right for you.
Your Recovery Timeline
First 24 Hours
- Do not apply makeup to the treated area for at least 24 hours.
- Do not rub, scratch, or pick at the small entry points.
- Sleep with your head elevated on an extra pillow for the first few nights.
- Wear your compression face wrap (such as the Marena FM410) as directed by your provider.
First 5 Days
- Avoid strenuous or vigorous exercise.
- Avoid alcohol and salty foods, which can increase swelling.

- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and tanning beds until swelling is fully gone.
- Avoid retinol, vitamin A creams, and exfoliants.
- Keep skin hydrated with a hyaluronic acid serum.
One-Month Follow-Up
Please return for your treatment review 1 month after your procedure.
What to Expect During Recovery
Normal Recovery
- Redness: Common for up to 3 days.
- Swelling: Usually peaks in the first 48 hours and settles in 3 to 5 days, but can last up to 2 weeks.
- Bruising: May appear at entry points and can last up to 7 days.
- Numbness or tenderness: Can last 2 to 4 weeks.
- Results: Skin continues to tighten over about 4 months as new collagen forms. Results may seem to come and go during this time — this is normal.
Call Us Right Away If You Notice
- Severe or worsening pain, heat, or redness
- Signs of infection, such as pus or fever
- Blistering or a burn at the treatment site
- Firm, painful lumps under the skin
- Weakness or unevenness of your smile lasting longer than 2 weeks
Contact your clinician urgently for worsening one-sided swelling, increasing redness or warmth, fever, severe pain, skin color changes, or new facial weakness.
Recovery & Comfort Tips
General recovery guidance. Follow your treating clinician's individualized instructions.
Swelling & Discomfort
- Cold compresses (first 12 hours). Use a cool pack intermittently during the first 12 hours to ease swelling, if your treating clinician approves. Wrap the pack in a soft cloth; do not apply ice directly to skin or press hard.
- Facial compression wrap. Consider a supportive facial compression garment or chin strap only if prescribed. It supports tissues; it does not mechanically lift skin permanently. Follow instructions on fit and wear time.
- Arnica. Consider arnica only if your clinician recommends it; evidence for reducing postprocedure swelling is limited.
- Benadryl. Take one tablet of diphenhydramine (Benadryl) 25 mg at night for two nights before and two nights after your treatment to help prevent excessive swelling. Caution: may cause drowsiness. Take only with approval from your practitioner.
- Tylenol for discomfort. Use acetaminophen (Tylenol) as directed if needed, provided it is safe with your medical history and other medicines.
Nutrition & Hydration
- Avoid alcohol. Avoid alcohol during early recovery, especially while taking sedating medications.
- Balanced carbohydrates. Choose balanced, nutritious meals; there is no established need to eliminate carbohydrates for collagen recovery.
- Limit salty foods. Reduce excess sodium during the first week if swelling is a concern.
- Intermittent fasting. Discuss fasting with your clinician before trying it. Adequate calories and protein support wound healing; fasting is not proven to speed Endolift recovery.
- Hydration and vitamins. Drink adequate water and eat nutrient-rich foods. Take vitamins or supplements only as appropriate for your needs.
Activity, Massage & Skincare
- Facial massage. Ask your clinician whether gentle massage may begin around days 3–5. Avoid vigorous rubbing or pressure on tender areas.
- Sleep, stress, and activity. Prioritize regular sleep, stress management, and gentle activity as permitted. Avoid strenuous exercise until cleared.
- Skin-boosting treatments. Consider skin-boosting sessions according to your practitioner's recommendation.
- Professional facial massage sessions. If desired, schedule gentle, clinician-approved facial or lymphatic massage after initial healing; do not massage inflamed or painful areas.
- Copper peptides. Ask about topical copper-peptide skincare only after the skin barrier has healed. Peptides are not FDA-approved for this use; their use to support healing is generally based on patient-reported experience.
Supporting Your Long-Term Results
Keep Fertilizing the Soil
To help improve your recovery and support your results, consider continuing biostimulator treatments according to your practitioner's recommendation. These stimulate collagen and fibroblasts, which may support and enhance your Endolift results. Options include:
Ask your practitioner which option is right for you and when to start.
Your Recovery Goal
These measures focus on comfort, minimizing unnecessary swelling, and supporting normal tissue healing while collagen remodeling develops over time.
No diet, massage, or peptide regimen guarantees faster collagen production.
